Sex Offender Registration
Registered sex offenders and kidnapping offenders are documented through the sheriff’s office of each county. Convicted sex or kidnapping offenders must register for varying lengths of time, depending on what class their crime was. Level 3 is the highest level, those most likely to reoffend. Those that must register are required to notify the sheriff’s office within three days each time they move. Regardless, remember that most sex offenders are not registered, because most victims of sexual assault do not report the crime and their perpetrators do not get prosecuted.
