The Engineering Division is responsible for the primary areas of the following:

Interacting with the public to serve a wide array of needs, concerns, information dissemination, and communication;

Working with the construction industry to provide appropriate permits, project inspections, and information and knowledge needs;

Record-keeping;

Mapping (a vital part of the record-keeping mission);

Traffic improvements for vehicles and pedestrians;

Street addressing;
-
Federal, State, and local code compliance;

Working with franchise utility companies;
-
Design and/or monitoring of public and certain private construction activities; and
-
Improving the quality, efficiency, and timeliness of meeting public needs.
The Engineering staff interacts closely with other City Divisions and Departments to supply a range of products and services including mapping, drafting, engineering, and surveying services.
